Anxiety
Anxiety can be a normal part of life. Worrying about certain things in your life can alert you to changes that need to be made. However, anxiety can become a problem when it starts to be more persistent and interferes with your life and feelings of well‐being. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 40 million Americans over the age of 18 have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Below are some of the symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Anxiety and worry that is present most of the time for at least 6 months and difficult to control
- Easily fatigued
- Difficulty concentrating
- Irritability
- Tension
- Trouble sleeping
Many people with anxiety also experience physical issues such as stomach problems, headaches, muscle tension, and sweating. Talk to your doctor about any physical symptoms you may be having. Other ways to manage anxiety may be yoga, meditation, and exercise. Psychotherapy or counseling can also be helpful in learning how to manage symptoms of anxiety and to understand if there are deeper reasons for your feelings.
